crispening

Getting more brittle

Crispening is the process of making something crisp or crisper—typically food becoming more firm and crunchy through cooking: The bacon was crispening in the pan.

The word also applies to things becoming sharper or more defined: autumn air crispening toward winter, the image crispening as the lens focused.
