creepage
Slow surface spread
Creepage is the gradual movement or spread of something, often unwanted: the creepage of rust across metal, the creepage of costs beyond budget.
In electrical engineering, creepage specifically refers to the distance along an insulating surface between two conductors—a safety measurement to prevent arcing or short circuits.
The design requires minimum creepage of 8mm between live parts.
