creditability

Capacity for trust

Creditability is a nonstandard form of credibility, the quality of being believable or trustworthy.

The word likely arises from confusion between credible and creditable, which have distinct meanings—credible means believable, while creditable means deserving praise or credit.

Most style guides consider creditability an error; use credibility instead.
