counterpetition
Response filing against
A counterpetition is a petition filed in response to an original petition, typically opposing it or presenting an alternative position.
In legal contexts, it's a formal response to a court filing.
More broadly, when one group circulates a petition, opponents may organize a counterpetition: The rezoning petition gathered 500 signatures, but the counterpetition against it got twice as many.
