confirmation ceremony
Religious coming-of-age rite
A confirmation ceremony is a religious rite marking a person's affirmation of faith, typically in Christian traditions.
The ceremony confirms vows made at baptism, usually when candidates reach adolescence and can make their own declaration of belief: She wore a white dress to her confirmation ceremony.
Jewish confirmation ceremonies similarly mark religious commitment, often around age sixteen.
