composite sketches
Suspect face reconstructions
Composite sketches are drawings of a person's face created from witness descriptions, typically used by law enforcement to identify suspects.
An artist or software combines details—nose shape, eye spacing, jawline—from witness accounts into a single image: Police released a composite sketch of the suspect.
The term extends metaphorically to any portrait assembled from fragmentary information: The biography offers a composite sketch drawn from interviews with colleagues.
