communal garden
Neighborhood growing area
A communal garden is a shared green space maintained collectively by residents of an apartment building, housing development, or neighborhood.
Unlike private gardens, communal gardens are open to all residents for relaxation, growing plants, or socializing: The communal garden behind our building has raised beds where anyone can grow vegetables.
In British usage especially, the term often describes the shared grounds of a housing estate or block of flats.
