color-blind casting
Appearance-agnostic role assignment
Color-blind casting is the practice of casting actors without regard to race, ethnicity, or skin color, especially for roles where those characteristics aren't essential to the story.
A Black actor might play a Danish prince, or an Asian actress might portray an English queen: The production used color-blind casting for most supporting roles.
The term has largely given way to alternatives like color-conscious casting or nontraditional casting, which acknowledge rather than ignore race.
