collision zone
Where things collide
A collision zone is a region where tectonic plates push directly into each other, crumpling the earth's crust and building mountain ranges.
The Himalayas formed in a collision zone where the Indian plate meets the Eurasian plate.
The term also applies more loosely to any area where moving things meet with force: The intersection became a collision zone during rush hour.
