A collar stain is a discoloration on the neckband of a shirt, typically from accumulated sweat, body oils, and dirt.
These yellowish or grayish marks form where fabric repeatedly contacts skin: I can't get this collar stain out no matter what I try.
The term sometimes appears as "ring around the collar," familiar from laundry detergent advertising.
