cold booted

Started from off

Cold booted describes a computer that has been started from a completely powered-off state, as opposed to restarted or woken from sleep.

A cold boot clears all memory and reloads the operating system from scratch: After the crash, I cold booted the system and everything worked fine.

The term distinguishes from a warm boot, which restarts without fully powering down.
