coöperation
Joint effort, shared
Coöperation is an older spelling of cooperation that uses a diaeresis over the second o to indicate that the two vowels are pronounced separately rather than as a single sound.
This typographical convention, once common in English, has largely fallen out of use except in a few publications like *The New Yorker* that maintain it as a house style.
The word itself means working together toward a common goal or complying with requests.
