cloudbase
Where clouds begin
Cloudbase is the altitude at which the bottom of a cloud formation begins—the lowest level where water vapor has condensed into visible droplets or ice crystals.
Pilots and meteorologists track cloudbase to assess visibility and flight conditions: The cloudbase was at 3,000 feet.
In paragliding and hang gliding, cloudbase marks the upper limit of thermal lift.
