cloud chambers
Vapor trail visualizers
A cloud chamber is a sealed container filled with supersaturated vapor, used to detect ionizing radiation.
When charged particles pass through, they leave visible trails of condensation—tiny droplets forming along their paths like contrails behind aircraft.
Developed in the early twentieth century, cloud chambers helped physicists visualize subatomic particles and cosmic rays, earning their inventor the Nobel Prize.
