clockless

Lacking any dial

Clockless describes something operating without a clock—most commonly in computing, where it refers to circuits that don't rely on a central timing signal to coordinate operations.

Traditional processors synchronize everything to clock pulses; clockless (or asynchronous) designs let components signal each other when ready.

Outside technical contexts, clockless can simply mean lacking a clock: a clockless kitchen wall, living a clockless existence on vacation.
