climate accord

Nations' emissions agreement

A climate accord is a formal agreement between nations to address climate change, typically setting targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Paris Agreement of 2015 is the most prominent example.

Countries may join, withdraw from, or renegotiate such accords as political leadership changes: The administration announced plans to rejoin the climate accord.
