Municipal artifact repository
A city museum is a museum devoted to the history, culture, and development of a particular city.
Such institutions typically house artifacts, photographs, maps, and exhibits documenting local life across different eras: The city museum has an entire floor dedicated to the 1906 earthquake.
Some focus on civic identity and urban change, while others emphasize everyday life of past residents.
