check stub
Payer's paper trail
A check stub is the perforated portion of a check that remains attached to the checkbook after the check is torn out, serving as a record of the transaction.
It typically shows the check number, date, payee, and amount: She recorded each payment on the check stub for her records.
Also called a check register stub.
In payroll contexts, a check stub (or pay stub) is the detachable part of a paycheck showing earnings, deductions, and net pay.
