chamoy
Tangy Mexican drizzle
Chamoy is a Mexican condiment with a sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavor profile, made from pickled fruit (usually apricot, mango, or plum) combined with chili peppers and lime.
It comes as a sauce, paste, or powder and is drizzled on fresh fruit, rimmed on glasses for drinks, or coated on candy: mangonadas with chamoy, chamoy-covered gummy worms.
The taste is aggressively layered—tangy and fruity with a chili burn.
