cat fancy

Cat fancy is the organized hobby of breeding, exhibiting, and judging pedigreed cats.

The term covers the whole subculture: breed registries, cat shows, and the enthusiasts themselves.

Someone involved in cat fancy is a fancier: She's been in the cat fancy for thirty years.

The word fancy here means a collective enthusiasm for something, as in pigeon fancy.
