canvas paper
Painter's primed surface
Canvas paper is textured paper designed to simulate the surface of artist's canvas.
It allows painters to work with oils or acrylics on a paper substrate while achieving canvas-like brushwork and texture: She practiced techniques on canvas paper before committing to an actual canvas.
It's lighter and cheaper than stretched canvas, making it popular for studies and student work.
