candle snuffer
Wick fire ender
A candle snuffer is a small tool for extinguishing candles, typically a cone-shaped cap on a handle that starves the flame of oxygen.
Unlike blowing, snuffing produces no smoke or splatter.
The term also applies to a person performing this task, historically a minor church or household duty.
