A cagoule is a lightweight, hooded waterproof jacket, typically pullover style and designed to pack into a small pouch.
The term is primarily British.
Cagoules became popular with hikers and schoolchildren as cheap, portable rain protection: Don't forget your cagoule—it looks like rain.
