buyout clause
Contract escape payment
A buyout clause is a contract provision specifying conditions under which one party can exit the agreement, typically by paying a set amount.
In employment contracts, it lets an employee leave before the term ends: Her buyout clause was set at two years' salary.
In sports, buyout clauses allow players to transfer to other teams if the fee is met.
