buying out
Purchasing entire stake
Buying out is purchasing someone's entire share or stake in something, typically a business or property.
When partners split, one may buy out the other's interest: She's buying out her co-founder.
The phrase also applies to ending contracts early—buying out the remaining years of a lease or employment agreement.
