Button layout is the arrangement of buttons on a controller, keyboard, remote, or other input device.
In gaming, button layout often refers to customizable control schemes that map actions to different buttons: I switched to a button layout that puts jump on the left trigger.
The term also applies to physical design—how buttons are positioned and spaced on hardware.
