butter pats
Small spread servings
Butter pats are small, individually portioned pieces of butter, typically shaped into squares or rounds and served at the table.
The term also refers to the wooden paddles historically used to shape butter by hand, or small dishes designed to hold individual butter servings: Each place setting had its own butter pat.
