braintrust

Elite advisory group

A braintrust is a group of expert advisers, especially one assembled to solve problems or develop strategy.

The term originated with Franklin Roosevelt's circle of policy advisers during the 1930s.

Today it applies to any collection of smart people whose judgment you seek: She assembled a braintrust to review the business plan.
