body man

Executive's constant shadow

A body man is a personal aide who remains physically close to a principal—typically a politician, executive, or celebrity—handling logistics, carrying supplies, and anticipating needs throughout the day.

The term comes from Secret Service usage but now applies broadly to any close personal assistant: The senator's body man handed him his briefing notes between meetings.

The role combines aspects of valet, scheduler, and gatekeeper.
