bodkins
Blunt threading needles
Bodkins is the plural of bodkin, a small pointed instrument.
Historically, a bodkin was a thick needle with a large eye for threading ribbon or cord through fabric, or a sharp pin for fastening hair.
In Shakespeare's era, it could mean a dagger—Hamlet's bare bodkin is the blade he might use to end his life.
The oath odd's bodkins (God's bodkins) refers to the nails of the crucifixion.
