boarding gates
Where planes await
Boarding gates are the designated areas in an airport terminal where passengers wait before entering an aircraft.
Each gate has a number or letter-number combination announced on tickets and departure boards: Flight 247 is now boarding at gate C12.
The gate includes a waiting area, check-in podium, and jetway or stairs leading to the plane.
