blue tits
Small European birds
Blue tits are small European songbirds with bright blue caps, yellow underparts, and white faces.
They're common garden visitors, acrobatic feeders often seen hanging upside down on bird feeders.
The plural invites snickering among English speakers, though the name simply comes from "tit" meaning a small bird: We counted six blue tits at the feeder this morning.
