blue bonnet
Lone Star bloom
A blue bonnet is a wildflower with blue clustered blooms, especially the lupine species that blankets Texas fields in spring and serves as the state flower.
The term also refers to a traditional Scottish cap, typically a flat woolen bonnet in blue.
The hillsides were covered in bluebonnets.
Usually spelled as one word: bluebonnet.
