bird-nesting
Raiding avian homes
Bird-nesting is a custody arrangement where children remain in the family home while divorced or separated parents rotate in and out.
The children stay put; the parents move.
The term comes from how parent birds alternate caring for nestlings: We're trying bird-nesting so the kids don't have to shuttle between houses.
Also called nesting.
