biographical sketches
Brief personal histories
Biographical sketches are brief accounts of a person's life, hitting the essential facts—birth, death, major achievements, significance—without the depth of a full biography.
They appear in reference works, program notes, and introductions: The conference booklet included biographical sketches of all the speakers.
A sketch captures the outline, not the complete portrait.
