bias crime
Prejudice-motivated criminal act
A bias crime is an offense motivated by prejudice against someone's race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected characteristic.
The term is essentially synonymous with hate crime, though bias crime is sometimes preferred in legal contexts for its specificity: The assault was prosecuted as a bias crime because the attacker targeted the victim for being Jewish.
