beach rose
Dune-stabilizing flowering plant
Beach rose is a hardy shrub native to coastal areas of eastern Asia and northeastern North America, with fragrant pink or white flowers and large red rose hips.
It tolerates salt spray, sandy soil, and harsh winds, making it common along shorelines and dunes: Beach roses lined the path to the ocean.
Also called rugosa rose.
