bank holidays
National days off
Bank holidays are days when banks and most businesses close, typically designated by government or custom.
In British English, the term refers to public holidays generally—Christmas, Easter Monday, and several others scattered through the year: The shops will be closed for the bank holiday weekend.
American English prefers "federal holidays" or simply "holidays" for the same concept.
