bald-faced lie
Brazen untruth told
A bald-faced lie is a shameless, obvious falsehood delivered without any attempt at concealment or subtlety.
The liar knows you know it's false and doesn't care: He told a bald-faced lie about where he'd been all night.
The phrase emphasizes brazenness—lying with a bare, uncovered face rather than hiding behind pretense.
