backyard rink
Residential skating surface
A backyard rink is a small ice skating surface created in a residential yard during winter, typically by flooding a flat area and letting it freeze.
Common in cold climates, especially Canada and the northern United States, backyard rinks are used for recreational skating and hockey practice: He learned to skate on the backyard rink his dad built every December.
