Formal recognition paper
An award certificate is a formal document recognizing achievement, completion, or merit.
Schools issue award certificates to honor students; organizations give them for accomplishments or participation: She framed her award certificate from the science fair.
The term is somewhat redundant, since certificates often are awards, but it emphasizes the recognitional rather than credentialing function.
