avalanching

Mountain snow collapse

Avalanching is the present participle of avalanche, used as a verb to describe snow, ice, or debris sliding rapidly down a mountainside.

The term extends to any cascading or overwhelming rush: Orders came avalanching in after the product launch.

In technical contexts, particularly electronics and physics, avalanching describes a chain-reaction process where one event triggers many others in rapid succession, as when electrons multiply exponentially in certain semiconductor conditions.
