autarkic
Needing no imports
Autarkic describes a state of economic self-sufficiency, where a nation or entity produces what it needs without relying on imports or external trade.
The term usually applies to countries pursuing isolation from global markets: North Korea's autarkic policies have left it impoverished.
More loosely, autarkic can describe any system designed to be self-contained: an autarkic commune growing its own food.
