auditory range
Sound perception limits
Auditory range is the span of sound frequencies an organism can hear.
Human auditory range typically extends from about 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, though this narrows with age.
Different species have vastly different ranges—dogs hear higher frequencies than humans, while elephants detect sounds too low for us.
The ultrasonic whistle is outside human auditory range.
