attributively
Describing a noun
Attributively describes how a word functions when it modifies a noun directly, sitting right before it rather than following a linking verb.
In a tall building, tall works attributively; in the building is tall, it works predicatively.
The distinction matters because some adjectives only work one way: an utter fool but never the fool is utter.
