asynchronicity

Events without coordination

Asynchronicity is the quality of not occurring at the same time or not being synchronized.

In computing, it describes operations that run independently of the main program flow, allowing other processes to continue without waiting: The app's asynchronicity lets you keep browsing while files download.

More broadly, it refers to any lack of temporal coordination: The asynchronicity of our schedules made meeting difficult.
