arrow through head
Comedian's sight gag
A novelty gag prop, typically a headband with a fake arrow appearing to pierce the skull from one side to the other.
Popularized by comedian Steve Martin in his 1970s standup routines, it became an icon of absurdist prop comedy.
The phrase sometimes describes any deliberately corny or obvious joke.
