arc cosine
Angle-finding trig function
Arc cosine is the inverse of the cosine function—given a value between -1 and 1, it returns the angle whose cosine equals that value.
Written as arccos or cos⁻¹, it's fundamental in trigonometry for finding angles from ratios: The arc cosine of 0.5 is 60 degrees.
The output ranges from 0 to 180 degrees (or 0 to π radians).
