anti-federal
Opposing national government
Anti-federal means opposed to federal government or federalism—the concentration of power in a central authority rather than regional or state governments.
In American history, the Anti-Federalists opposed ratification of the Constitution, fearing it gave too much power to the national government: anti-federal sentiment ran high in rural districts.
The term still describes opposition to federal authority or expansion of central government power.
