anti-dumping duties
Trade protection levies
Anti-dumping duties are tariffs imposed on imported goods that are being sold below their normal value in the exporting country—a practice called dumping.
Governments levy these duties to protect domestic industries from unfair foreign competition: The Commerce Department imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese steel.
The duties raise the price of dumped goods to offset the artificial advantage.
